In 2022, the ETH course “Praktikum Atmosphäre und Klima” was conducted at the Payerne National Facility. This practical course is offered annually for Bachelor students from different departments at ETH. The main goal of the course is for the students to get their first hands-on experience with atmospheric measurements in the field. At Payerne, they were measuring meteorological and boundary layer parameters, as well as gas-phase and aerosol constituents from a trailer that was temporarily installed at the airport nearby the Payerne observatory. As well as learning how to conduct the measurements, the students analyzed and interpreted the results, and compared their observations with those collected for the ACTRIS network.
